MINNEAPOLIS, April 15, 2014  -- Allina Health and Consulting Radiologists, Ltd. (CRL) announced a new joint venture to operate high tech imaging services in the west and southwest metro areas of the Twin Cites on April 14.  The new venture is named Twin Cities Medical Imaging and includes two sites in Edina, Minn., with additional sites expected in the future.

In a recent announcement by drchrono Inc., the creator of a free electronic health record (EHR) platform on the iPad, iPhone and cloud, the company reportedly raised an additional $2.69M in convertible debt funding from its AngelList profile. In addition to the $4.13M previously raised, the company has amasses a total of  $6.77M in funding. The goal of the drchrono free EHR is to allow doctors and patients to easily connect with one another and share critical data.

Nationwide, imaging operators are beginning to feel the impact of reimbursement cuts from the 2014 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (“MPFS”) primarily associated with Computed Tomography (“CT”) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (“MRI”) modalities.

Running a radiology practice naturally forces clinicians to divide time between treating their patients and watching after their business.

As the federal meaningful use incentive program has progressed, its direct impact on the practice of radiology has intensified through the addition of provisions specific to the utilization and sharing of medical images.
