Radiology that facilitates the sharing of resources and touchpoints within an enterprise but across geographic locales is the future of the specialty, according to two Harvard radiology researchers.

Concerningly, nearly 80% of physicians described their burnout as “moderate to severe,” and one in five respondents reported self-medicating with alcohol to cope with their depressive symptoms. 

According to the Federal Register, the FDA is repealing these radiation protection recommendations because they have become “outdated” and “unnecessary.” 

The increase has been especially evident in single-encounter chest/abdominopelvic scans, not least those performed for minor injuries.

Recent years have seen the venerable chest X-ray built upon with new technologies, screening programs and educational techniques. As a result, today’s thoracic imaging may be a humble herald of things to come across radiology.
