While the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force still uses weight to guide its screening recommendations, new research suggests focusing on age alone provides more value. 

People suddenly stricken with a cardiovascular crisis often survive and recover as long as they’re transported ASAP to a hospital that has two attributes: expertise in emergency heart care and capacity to accommodate the incoming episode.

“If testing is successful in humans, this would represent an excellent new treatment option for patients with this disease.”

Patients with pure native AR are often excluded from clinical trials comparing TAVR and SAVR, leading to a lack of clarity when it comes to the proper treatment of this population.

Children included in the assessment displayed several concerning neurological MRI findings shortly after their birth, including acquired microcephaly, severe parenchymal atrophy and cystic encephalomalacia. 

Many patients still require a permanent pacemaker following TAVR. In fact, it is more common after TAVR than after surgical aortic valve replacement.
