The case dates to 2015, when Kentuckian Kimberly Johnson received an erroneous letter from the local hospital stating that she was cancer-free.

The Addison, Texas-based imaging group is teaming with Jefferson Health to open more than a dozen new centers in the Philadelphia area. 

The decreases appeared to be greatest for cancers typically diagnosed via screening, including breast, lung and colorectal cancer. 

Researchers from Case Western Reserve University are commissioning a study to determine if a novel MRI technique can predict the effectiveness of chemotherapy in treating breast cancer.

The findings, derived from ACR's National Mammography Database, offer important clues as leaders seek to improve biopsy rates after screenings. 

This approach can be replicated by radiologist-led teams elsewhere, providing a "high-value, scalable opportunity" to reduce cancer screening disparities. 

Automatically scheduling patients for breast imaging also created a heavier administrative burden, researchers detailed Monday in JAMA Internal Medicine. 

According to one radiologist, the continued success of AI could make second reads for screening mammograms a thing of the past.
