Breast MRI

Magnetic resonance imaging of the breast (breast MRI), commonly used for dense breasts, is a highly accurate imaging modality for detecting early breast cancer and other abnormalities without using excess radiation. It’s often used alongside digital mammograms and digital breast tomosynthesis to offer detailed visualization of breast lesion margins.

MRI technique makes breast cancer 'glow' on imaging

The technique highlights differences in how water molecules move through cancerous tissue in comparison to healthy tissue.

Deep learning reconstruction improves breast MRI quality

Deep learning reconstruction cuts breast MRI scan times in half

The use of DLR also provides greater flexibility with protocols in comparison to conventional single-shot echo-planar imaging.

AI effectively flags mammograms of women who would benefit from supplemental MRI

Experts involved in the algorithm's development believe its time-saving potential could help improve both radiologist workflows and patient outcomes.

AI model spots missed breast cancers on MRI

AI model spots up to 30% of breast cancers missed on MRI

Re-evaluation by the second look algorithm could result in a cancer diagnosis up to one year earlier, especially for high risk disease.

Breast cancer only visible via MRI is often less aggressive

The heightened sensitivity of MRI is beneficial in that it allows for earlier detection of cancers, but it also presents challenges for providers tasked with managing patients’ care plans.

Radiology AI firm specializing in automating MRI workflows raises $19M

Copenhagen-based Cerebriu said the Danish VC firm North Ventures led the Series A funding round with support from EIFO and Sagitta Ventures.

Debra L. Monticciolo, MD, FACR, FSBI, past-president of both the Society of Breast Imaging (SBI), and the American College of Radiology (ACR), explains the advances in breast screening technology and the positives and negatives of each and how artificial intelligence might be able to play a role to ease workflows.

The pros and cons of current breast screening modalities and the role of AI

AI tool's supplemental MRI recs help detect 4 times more breast cancers than density measures

What’s more, many of the cancers detected were invasive or multifocal, making their detection more timely.
