The University of Miami believes it has established the first completely independent IR department in the country, which is thriving years after creation. 

Founded over 60 years ago, New Jersey-based University Radiology, employs 180-plus board-certified rads handling 2.1 million exams annually. 
 

"We’ve got a pipeline ... and we’re hopeful we can execute and expand the footprint geographically," the company's CFO tells Oppenheimer Conference attendees.  

Radiology experts are warning that reimbursements for certain imaging services are not enough to cover expenses, putting specialists in a precarious position. 

Medusa has hacked over 300 victims including SimonMed Imaging, hospitals, law firms and manufacturers, according to the federal cybersecurity advisory. 

“Focusing on programmatic resources in the first follow-up period may provide a significant return on investment," experts write in JAMA Network Open. 

The incident cost the clinic tens of thousands of dollars in repairs.
