Illumina ordered to divest Grail

A cardiology practice in Florida and several of its cardiologists have agreed to pay $2 million to resolve allegations that they violated the False Claims Act and committed fraud. As a part of the agreement, there has been no determination of liability.

The agency, which is charged with preventing fraud, deception and unfair business practices, said Illumina’s acquisition of Grail would stifle competition and innovation in the U.S. market for life-saving cancer tests.

CMS finalizes 2024 MA payment rule with rate bump

Among general cardiologists, for example, median compensation jumped nearly 8% from 2023 to 2024. Interventional cardiology and electrophysiology saw even larger jumps. Dollar money graphic showing increased finance.

According to CMS, MA plans will see an average payment increase of 3.32% from 2023 to 2024, worth approximately $13.8 billion in increases for next year.

Radiologists develop point-of-care AI for chest X-rays

Chest X-ray. Using an explainable artificial intelligence (AI) model, researchers were recently able to accomplish highly accurate labeling on large datasets of publicly available chest radiograph X-rays.. 

Radiologists used an AI tool-building platform to create their model(s), which allows clinicians the opportunity to develop AI models without any prior training in data sciences or computer programming.
