Aalpen Patel, MD, MBA, joined the Georgia-based imaging center operator in March, vacating his post as a practicing physician with Geisinger Health System. 

The original inciting incident occurred in July 2014, when 58-year-old James Griswold visited the Connecticut provider group for a nuclear stress imaging test. 

"These survey data show, in stark terms, that practices will close because of this incident," said AMA President Jesse Ehrenfeld, MD.

Scientists developed the deep learning algorithm using a set of over 123,000 digital mammograms (including 6,100-plus cancer cases).

The chain of imaging centers produces 600,000 patient scans each year in Florida and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Participants in the course will have six months of access to a new MRI VR sim. The class modules begin on May 1.
