The Montreal Heart Institute has launched a new clinical trial aimed at improving care for patients who have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Two radiology professors with the University of Pennsylvania are offering advice to physicians navigating uncertainty when using chest CT for COVID-19. 

Of COVID-19 patients who develop serious heart complications, most don’t see this problem until late in the disease’s progression. However, some are turning up with extensive heart inflammation at the outset.

Americans are dying from cardiovascular disease (CVD) caused or exacerbated by hypertension at alarmingly higher rates than in years past.

The group noted that officials across the country are urging individuals to stay at home, where possible, and nonurgent imaging is no exception. 

OSF Health is leveraging AI to help patients better understand the risks of contracting COVID-19 and navigate care types based on their symptoms.

“With AI, cancer imaging can move from an inherently subjective tool to a quantitative and objective asset for precision medicine approaches," Columbia University Irving Medical Center radiologists wrote Friday.

The American College of Radiology and 29 other healthcare trade groups implored lawmakers to stop any further financial harm to their members. 

Cardiovascular care professionals must consider the concerns and views of healthcare workers, members of hospital/health system leadership and, not least, patients—whether the latter are infected with COVID-19 or not.

The college shared high-level principles in its comments submitted to the White House Office of Management and Budget, emphasizing validation, transparency and safety.
