Researchers found millions of heart failure patients who qualify for standard, guideline directed medical therapies, but did not receive it due to poor health literacy, limited access to care and medication costs.

Former UPMC doc Omar Almusa was convicted of the scheme in 2018 and sentenced to two years in prison, but wants out since he has Crohn's disease.

Clinicians use AI device to remotely monitor COVID-19 patient

Hypertension patients measured their blood pressure less frequently during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to new research published in Hypertension. In addition, when those patients did measure their blood pressure, the readings were less healthy than they had been before the pandemic.

The feat may offer a way for physicians to watch for signs of deterioration in patients who have too mild a case of the disease to warrant hospitalization but may need quick response if the condition worsens.
