Barco expands range of high-performance medical graphics boards with high-end 4-head display controller
Kortrijk, Belgium, 3 December 2013– Healthcare imaging specialist Barco introduces the MXRT-7500, a brand-new 3D PCIe display controller supporting up to 4 full resolution displays. The first board to offer compatibility with the DisplayPort 1.2 interface standard, the MXRT-7500 features the PCIe 3.0 interface and the latest in AMD FireProTM 3D technology, ensuring ultra-fast loading of medical images and large datasets.
All-in-one display controller for 4-head configurations
Fitted with 4GB of memory and an ultra-fast GPU, the top-of-the-line MXRT-7500 offers unmatched processing power for large medical datasets. The MXRT-7500 supports DirectX, OpenGL, and OpenCL and is compatible with Microsoft Windows® 7. The board can drive up to four full resolution displays over DisplayPort – making the MXRT-7500 perfect for use in 4-head configurations. This ‘all-in-one’ approach saves space on the PC, simplifies installation, and significantly reduces the total cost of ownership.
The best visual experience for enhanced productivity
The MXRT-7500 uses third-generation AMD FireProTM 3D technology for leading-edge display performance and flexibility. “Together, Barco and AMD focus on bringing solutions that are tailored to the needs of demanding medical applications. The growing volume of large medical datasets, combined with the need for increased reading productivity are fueling customer demands for the highest possible visual experience. Our high-end AMD FireProTM workstation graphics cards deliver enhanced visual imaging and performance to the medical field while keeping hardware costs down,” comments David Cummings, senior director and general manager, Professional Graphics at AMD.
“Barco’s new MXRT-7500 medical display controller combines the best of the previous generation with next-generation technologies to ensure faster transfer of an increased number of large medical images,” comments Becky Kiichle, Product Manager Display Controllers at Barco Healthcare. “Compared to the previous generation, the MXRT-7500 achieves, on average, a 34% performance improvement on 2D benchmarks, a 28% improvement on OpenGL 3D benchmarks, and a 40% improvement on DirectX 3D benchmarks.”
A full system solution
As part of Barco's system approach, the new MXRT-7500 display controller has been fully tested and optimized to work with Barco's full range of Nio and Coronis display products as well as its MediCal QAWeb software solution. Vigorous compatibility testing also ensures reliable performance with the latest workstations and with the leading PACS applications.
